Speaker Bio
MK Professor Avishay Braverman, a member of the Labor party, has served as a member of the Israeli Knesset since April 2006 and has served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee. His portfolio deals with the economic, social, and educational challenges of Israel's Arab citizens. In this capacity he emphasizes partnership and equality.
MK Professor Braverman served as President of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev from 1990-2006. He has served as a Senior Economist and Division Chief for the World Bank (1977-1990) where he led research, policy work and project evaluation throughout South America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe emphasizing balanced economic development and social justice.
MK Professor Braverman holds a Ph.D in Economics from Stanford University.
