Ameinu Congratulates Olmert and Peretz

Ameinu extends its congratulations to acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Kadima's victory in yesterday's elections in Israel.
Ameinu is especially heartened by the strong showing of Israel's Labor Party, under the leadership of Amir Peretz. "Amir Peretz and the entire party leadership deserve praise for re-establishing the Labor Party as a strong and unified party during a time of unprecedented change on the Israeli political scene," stated Kenneth Bob, Ameinu national president. "The election results are a clear victory for the causes of peace and social justice, causes that the Labor party kept at the forefront of Israel's consciousness," he added.

"Labor succeeded in focusing the agenda of the election campaign on the nature of Israeli society," Bob continued. "The surprising showing of the Pensioners Party," Bob continued, "is the direct result of this shift in focus."

Ameinu looks forward to the Israel Labor Party maintaining its emphasis on the link between peace and social justice for all Israel's citizens as the Party enters into negotiations with Prime Minister Olmert's Kadima Party around the formation of a new Israeli government.
