Ameinu, the leading progressive Zionist membership organization in North America, mourns the tragic loss of life due to the escalation of hostilities in southern Israel and the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched Operation Pillar of Defense in response to increasing rocket fire into the south of Israel from Hamas controlled Gaza.
“It is our fervent hope that the ongoing military operation brings stability and quiet to Israel,” said Kenneth Bob, President of Ameinu. “But all parties must understand that the political stalemate between Israel and the Palestinians requires an urgent diplomatic solution. A military response cannot end the conflict; only a negotiated peace can do so,” Bob added.
“Ameinu’s thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel, its defenders and all of the peace-seeking people of the region,” he concluded.
