Report from the Ameinu Children’s Solidarity Fund

By Ameinu Staff

In order to accomplish our objective of supporting children endangered by the attacks by Hezbollah, Ameinu contacted trusted partners to deliver the services in Israel.

Ameinu emergency funds assisted the World Labor Zionist Movement (WLZM) in running summer camps at the Beit Berl campus in Kfar Saba for over 1500 Jewish and Arab children. Similar programs were run for hundreds of children in other locations with the counseling assistance of the Habonim Dror and Machanot Olim youth movements. The WLZM helped to temporarily relocate families away from the northern border to safer regions in the center and south of Israel.

After the war, over 200 school bags were distributed to children in Haifa, Carmiel, Merar, and Nazereth as part of a solidarity tour. Hospitalized soldiers were visited in Haifa’s Rambam Hospital on that trip as well. Ameinu also supported the efforts at the Givat Haviva Institute as they hosted 200 children from the north at their Jewish-Arab Center for Peace.

Much needed activities were offered through the use of a swimming pool, arts and crafts, sports, and preparatory lessons in Arabic, Hebrew and English. In conjunction with Yedid, the Association of Community Empowerment, Ameinu helped equip bomb shelters in Safed. The city of Safed has not endured bombings since 1948.

The city’s bomb shelters are unprepared for long-term stays. Your contribution helped outfit shelters with fans, air conditioners, mattresses, emergency lighting, televisions, and games. The residents of the northern border were in desperate need of material support and your contribution helped ease physical conditions. But more than money, your solidarity with the residents of Israel has helped to boost morale for all Israelis – young and old, Jewish and Arab.

The staff and volunteers of Ameinu extend their heartfelt thanks for your contribution to the Emergency Fund.
