President Barak Obama
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,
On behalf of Ameinu, the leading progressive Zionist membership organization in the United States, I would like to congratulate you on your reelection and thank you for your continued friendship and support for the State of Israel.Ameinu knows that Israel has no greater friend and ally than the United States; as such, Ameinu urges you to use your good offices to bring Israel and the Palestinians back to the negotiating table as quickly as possible.

It is no coincidence that immediately following the recent vote on the UN resolution regarding Palestinian statehood, the government of Israel announced plans to build 3,000 new units in the corridor connecting the settlement of Ma’aleh Adumim and Jerusalem, known as “E1.” Israel wanted to punish the Palestinians for what it deems a “unilateral action.” There can be no mistake as to the ramifications of this new settlement construction — it will effectively destroy the chances for the creation of a contiguous, viable Palestinian state and render the two state solution dead As progressive Zionists, we cannot abide and do not support this.

Ameinu implores your administration to take an active and urgent role to mediate this conflict. The parties themselves have reached an impasse; yet Ameinu believes that it is a vital American and global interest to bring about a just and secure peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike. To this end, we call upon you to actively engage with both sides to forge an historic agreement.

Sincerely,

Ken's Signature

Kenneth Bob
President, Ameinu
