Ameinu, the leading grassroots progressive Zionist organization in North America, today applauded Secretary of State John Kerry’s announcement that peace talks would resume between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. “Secretary Kerry deserves our utmost admiration for his perseverance in bringing the two sides back to the table and for demonstrating that the United States is fully committed to protecting Israel as a Jewish and democratic state,” declared Kenneth Bob, Ameinu’s National President.
“Now is the time for all true leaders to put aside grievances, accept the painful choices needed for peace and act to secure a viable future for their people. We call on the Jewish community to join with Ameinu in demonstrating the same unified support for Israel as it seeks peace as it does when Israel is attacked,” Bob added.
“For peace to be achieved in the region both sides will have to abandon their belief that they hold a monopoly on the narrative of suffering. That is why Ameinu has launched The Third Narrative initiative and is challenging the progressive community to join in a constructive campaign for justice for Israelis and Palestinians. We will counter arguments that demonize Israel while focusing on a progressive agenda to the end the occupation and create a viable Palestinian state living in peace with a secure Israel” said Ameinu’s Chief Executive Officer Gideon Aronoff.
Ameinu, the leading grassroots progressive Zionist organization in North America, is dedicated to promoting a negotiated peace between Israel, the Palestinians and the Arab states, and to social and economic justice for all in Israel, North America and the world.
Ameinu reinforces Jewish continuity through support for Habonim Dror, the Labor Zionist youth movement, and management of the Kibbutz Program Center which sends hundreds of young adults on Israel experiential journeys every year.
