World Labour Zionist Movement Election Committee

Public Announcement

The World Labor Zionist Movement (WLZM) is implementing an election process for two representatives to sit on the expanded World Zionist Organization (WZO) Executive. The election will take place on Thursday, June 12th, 2008.

People who have an affinity to the WLZM can nominate themselves for these positions.
More details about the election process, the voting body and the schedule can be found in the Elections Regulations and Protocols of the Election Committee, which have been published on the election web site at: http:www.havoda.org.il/WLZM/index.htm.

Candidate applications can be downloaded on the election web site and this is also where the voter registry will be published.

Please stay tuned for updates on the website

The deadline for candidate applications and payments for the elections fees is Thursday, May 29th, 2008 at 12:00pm Israel time. The election will take place on Thursday, June 12th, 2008. The voting of non-Israeli citizens who have the right to vote will be possible via e-mail or fax according to the system detailed on the election website. There will be a 50 hour window in which to vote. These elections give an opportunity for the supporters of the WLZM and its principles abroad and for members in the different related organizations to the movement to nominate themselves and to be elected.

According to the decision of the movement, one woman will be elected from Israel and one delegate (man or women) will be elected from abroad.

We are about to go into an election process of the WLZM representatives with the celebration of 60 years of our independence as a backdrop. The WZO and WLZM have a lot of challenges to overcome on the way to fulfilling its values of continuing the building of the State of Israel while strengthening the relationship with the Jewish people.

A lot of thinking and hard work was put in by the Election Committee to assure a complete and proper democratic election procedure that will maintain the privacy of the voters. All of this is despite the challenges of locating some of the eligible voters outside of Israel, the complexity and the far-flung nature of the movement institutions and its supporters.

The elections committee of the World Labor Zionist Movement will do anything possible to lead a free and fair election process.

I wish us all a successful event and fruitful election,

Ronni Givoni

Chair of the Election Committee
